Objective: To investigate the efficacy for the combination of elemene injection and microwave hyperthermia on the treatment of cancer-related fatigue by the analysis on the changes of the fatigue symptoms in patients with gastric cancer before and after treatment.

Methods: 47 patients with gastric cancer were randomly divided to the control group (microwave hyperthermia) and the treatment group (microwave hyperthermia + Elemene injection), the fatigue scale of the QLQ-C30 and Piper Fatigue Scale were employed to observe the changes in fatigue symptoms of those patients.

Results: (I) QLQ-C30 scale: before and after the treatment, the scores in the fatigue scale of the QLQ-C30 of the treatment group declined; After treatment, the decrease of the fatigue scale of the QLQ-C30 in the treatment group is more obvious than in the control group, with statistical significance; (II) Piper fatigue scale: the effective rate in the treatment group was 69.9%, and that of the control group is 29.9%, there is a significant difference between the two groups (P

Conclusions: Elemene injection combined with microwave hyperthermia is of mild to moderate efficacy in cancer-related fatigue, and there is a good short-term effect.
