Dr. Luo is engaged as an associate chief physician in general surgery department of Tongji Hospital, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. For having worked for more than 8 years in general surgery, he is familiar with the diagnosis and treatment of common and rare diseases involved in this professional field. As a postdoctoral, he has been to the Medical Center of Florida University in United State. Currently the research work concerns identifying gene mutations and other alterations during the malignant transformation of hepatic, pancreatic and biliary tract tumor in order to find out the molecular biological marker for early diagnosis. Some of these identifying genes are being tested in experimental systems as potential therapies for hepatic cancer, pancrease cancer and cholangiocarcinoma. Dr. Luo has published more than 10 articles in this field including SCI articles, participated in the research work of national 863 (863 program) and a number of natural science foundations of China (NSFC), applied for and presided over a number of provincial projects, participated in writing and editing tumor surgery series-the liver surgery fascicule.
