Lung adenocarcinoma with solitary gastric metastasis: a case report with literature review

Gastrointestinal metastasis from primary lung cancer is rare with reported prevalence of 4.7- 14%. Gastric metastasis from lung cancer is rare and usually discovered during autopsy with detection rate of 0.2-1.7%. Gastric metastasis occurs commonly with breast cancer, melanoma, and lung cancer. Most patients are asymptomatic. Gastric metastasis from lung cancer suggest poor prognosis. We report a patient with lung adenocarcinoma presented with hematemesis and was found to have metastatic gastric ulcer. Gastric metastasis from primary lung malignancy is rare with majority of detection during autopsy. Extreme vigilance is required from physicians regarding patients’ gastrointestinal symptoms with underlying lung cancer.
